Love The Skin You’re In

Hey there beautiful people!

Hasn’t 2020 be one heck of a whirlwind so far? When life almost gets really real, sometimes it’s hard to keep up! You find yourself going through the motions and neglecting the things you love.

One of the things I try and stay focused on is my daily skin care routine. Loving the skin you’re in is so important. That’s why I have created this blog to go through some of the fundamentals about taking care of your skin, what a successful skin care routine should look like, and also all about our medical graded products to help with different skin conditions.

The Secret to Eternal Youth

You may have heard the term “Dracula Therapy” or “Vampire Facial” in the media a lot in recent years, but what is it and is it safe?

Although it sounds a little terrifying, the treatment actually has many health benefits including rejuvenation of the skin.

What is Dracula Therapy™?

Dracula Therapy™, also known as PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy), is a revolutionary anti-aging treatment that involves using your own blood to give you that youthful look without surgery. The procedure involves taking a small sample of blood and separating it into red blood cells, clear serum and platelets – a process known as Centrifugation. Before the serum is injected back into the skin, vitamins and amino acids are added. Then, using tiny, painless injections, this “Youth Elixir” is injected to whichever area that requires treatment.

Is it Safe?

Since this procedure uses your own blood, there is little risk of reactions, so it is extremely safe. Nothing foreign is used – we use your own plasma which makes this a very natural treatment.

What are the benefits?

Dracula Therapy™ is mainly used to rejuvenate the skin on areas such as the forehead, cheeks, neck, décolletage, hands, knees and elbows to give them a bright and youthful look.

It also stimulates the body to heal faster. So, if you have scars, stretch marks, wrinkles or dry dull skin, this is a natural way of improving the appearance of the skin without surgery.

We’re here to help – Free Consultations

To our Friends and Clients, old and new.

We may have been quiet lately, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives more than anything we’ve ever experienced before. With most of the world practicing social distancing measures or under complete lockdown, we’ve all had to change the way we do just about everything.

With that in mind, we now offer online consultations, which have proved very popular. So popular, that we have decided to keep this as a permanent service. This gives us a chance to reach out not only to our local clients, but also to our clients in Jersey and London.

How Does It Work?

It’s simple really. With everyone at home and glued to their phones more than ever, (who knew that was possible), our consultations can be done via Facebook, FaceTime or email. We’ll talk through your skin problems, your routine and any other issues you may have, and come up with the best treatment tailored to you. We will get you on the road to beautiful skin.

Look at this review from a client that has already experienced this new service.

“As someone who suffers from acne, I have become quiet self conscious. The thought of walking into a salon fills me with anxiety, so I got in touch with Bronwen, who gave me a consultation on FaceTime. She immediately put me at ease and together, we worked on a skincare routine to help with my problem. I can already see a difference! She also offered a brilliant payment plan for the skin products she recommended. I can’t thank her enough!”

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!

Now tell me, would you put butter on your face as a cosmetic cream?

I guarantee your answer is going to be no, so why would you put an over the counter brand of moisturiser on your face?…

because there is little difference in the effect that butter or a cosmetic brand will have on your skin.

Let me explain….

There is a vast difference between medical skincare products and cosmetic skincare products.  The mega difference is what they spend their profit on.

Cosmetic brands such Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, Clinique, Clarins, along with multiple up and coming new beauty brands, spend their money on advertising, more advertising and celebrity endorsements, whilst promising you a magnificent outcome.

Medical grade skincare companies such as ZO Skin Health and Alumier spend their money on clinical trials which prove the efficacy of certain ingredients for certain skin issues.  This takes years of research and testing to ensure that the outcome is one that is physically possible.  eg pigmentation reduction

The ingredients in medical brands are pharmaceutical grade and have an  proven action in various skin cells.  Anything that is not medically registered is not legally allowed to have an action.

The claims that cosmetic companies make are very cleverly worded to make the lay person believe that they are specially formulated for the problem that the potential buyer is having for example  “Proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles”   The key word here is appearance.

A medical skincare product can legally claim to “reduce the fine lines and wrinkles”.  Note, it can actually reduce the fine line and wrinkle rather than just make it look reduced superficially.

This is true  as it has a specific delivery system designed to pull the ingredients down to the basal epidermal cells.   These cells are the living layer of cells which should create healthy skin. With generic moisturisers these cells will not be fed, therefore resulting in your skin not getting the nutrients it needs to be healthy and strong.

I hope this makes  sense to you and have put a link in for you to watch and see what you think.

If you’re still looking to go down the off the shelf cosmetic route.. please do.

but let me tell you, you may as well put butter on your face 🙂

Are you worried about your thinning face?

In my quest to continuously offer patients safe and effective treatments, I’m proud to introduce the Stem Cell Facelift, a new type of regenerative treatment that restores a more youthful face by revitalizing the skin, boosting collagen and leaving skin plumper and more even in pigmentation.

So what is a stem cell facelift?

This treatment uses stem cells derived from a small fat sample taken from the patient’s body – this kick starts the regeneration process – in a totally natural way. The Stem Cell Facelift softens and corrects wrinkles, treats skin pigmentation (for example on the face or cleavage), fills and treats tear troughs, erases dark circles, hides scars and creates a more youthful, natural look.

The concept of using a patient’s own cells to repair or regenerate ageing or injured tissues is not completely new. I pioneered aesthetic regenerative medicine using platelet rich plasma to develop my patented Dracula PRP Therapy. This approach isolates growth factors from blood that is then re-injected in order to heal and regenerate tissues. However, the Stem Cell Facelift takes this theory of regeneration even further.

Throughout the ageing process, there is a natural reduction in skin quality. This is because the amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid lessens, plus the bone structure shrinks, leaving looser skin over a smaller frame. The Stem Cells Facelift works to regenerate the skin, making it plumper, stronger, more elastic and more even in pigmentation. This means the treatment works with your body, naturally integrating with your tissues without creating inflammation – giving results that last much longer.

“Very positive experience. Dr Sister took his time to answer my questions and made sure I fully understood the treatment. My skin has never looked better, would highly recommend!”

What does the treatment involve?

We remove a small amount of from fat via minimal liposuction, choosing from an area where there is excess, or unnecessary, fat – for instance, the buttocks. This fat is then emulsified and using a small needle, re-injected into the face.

As with PRP, this is an autologous treatment, meaning the injected substance is entirely derived from your own body, with no synthetic, toxic, or animal derived products. This means you cannot be allergic to the treatment.

Stem cells regenerate, rather than just rejuvenates the treated area. This means that the treatment works with your body, naturally integrating with your tissues without creating any inflammation – plus the results will last much longer.

How long does treatment take?

Treatment takes around under one hour and patients may experience some bruising around the liposuction site, and some may experience some minimal bruising at area of treatment.

When will I see results?

Results are two-fold. Immediately after treatment there will be noticeable plumpness to the skin, however, true results can take up to three months to appear, as the stem cells need time to differentiate, stimulate and renew the skin.

I am excited to now be able to offer this cutting edge, safe, effective treatment at my London clinic. If you would like to know if this treatment is suitable for you, please get in touch.

Put the spring back into your skin

Dracula PRP Therapy™is a powerful anti-ageing treatment that involves using your own blood as an injectable treatment. Sometimes known as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, Dr Daniel Sister was the first to introduce the treatment into the UK, and has now perfected his own unique system, called Dracula Therapy™.

Dr Sister takes a small sample of the patient’s blood (about the same amount as an average blood test). He then separates it into red blood cells, clear serum and platelets – through a process of centrifugation. Vitamins and amino acids can be added before this super-charged serum is injected into the patient, using tiny painless injections, in whichever area requires treatment.

So what does it do? Essentially it allows the body to heal faster and more efficiently. It stimulates DNA repair, heals scars and makes dry lacklustre skin look and feel younger. Not only is it an amazing anti-ageing treatment, but it also has wider uses within the medical profession, including treating hair loss and sports injuries.

“The results I have gained from the Dracula PRP Rederm are astounding. My cheeks feel very full & firm, my eyes look less sunken, my skin is more hydrated & definitely the elasticity has improved. As a result of the improved pigmentation I do not wear any foundation. I am booking in for my next one as soon as possible. Thank you Dr Sister.”

Results are noticeable within 3-4 weeks and often only one treatment is required. It works especially well for the forehead, cheeks, neck, décolletage, hands, knees and elbows. It’s amazing at skin revitalisation, tackling scars (including acne scars) and stretch marks. It can be mixed with dermal fillers to treat lines, administered during the same appointment as muscle relaxing injections for a lifting effect and really tackle any skin related problems.

Dracula PRP Therapy™ appeals to patients looking for a more natural approach to facial rejuvenation, i.e. rejuvenation using their own cells and more specifically, autologous platelet-rich plasma and facial augmentation without the use of synthetic fillers or animal products.

Treatment may need to be repeated every 2-6 months because of the on-going ageing process.

Dr Sister trains other medical professionals in Dracula PRP Therapy™ (over 100 in just 2013 alone), and has personally performed over 700 procedures.

An alternative to eye surgery

Plexr Plasma Soft Surgery for blepharoplasty and much more

Dr Sister is pleased to announce that he is now offering the Plexr Plasma Soft Surgery System. This is an incredible alternative to invasive surgery, reducing risk, recovery time, cost and possible complications.

What is it used for?

Plexr’s most common use is blepharoplasty – (eyelid surgery) a corrective procedure that addresses issues of the eyelids, which tightens the skin around the eyes reducing droop, puffiness and excess skin.

However, Plexr can be used for a range of other issues. These include eye bags, face and neck lifts, removing moles, treating scars and removing stretch marks.

“The Plexr Plasma Soft Surgery was the perfect solution for the sagging skin around my eyes. Being a bit squemish about surgery this was a welcome alternative. So pleased with the results!”

How does it work?

Plexr uses what is called the forth state of matter – plasma. It ‘sublimate’s’ the tissue being treated by ionising gases the gas particles in the air between the tip of the device and the skin being treated, to create an electrical arc (like a tiny lightening bolt). No heat spreads to the surrounding areas. Whereas a surgical option would remove the tissue, Plexr causes the tissue to contract and tighten, and results are instant.

What happens during treatment?

Before treatment begins a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin and left in place for around 3o minutes. The treatment itself may feel hot, but should not be too uncomfortable.

Is there any downtime?

The downtime associated with Plexr Soft Surgery is far less than with conventional surgery. There will be some redness and swelling for two-three days, then the skin will form a scab which must not be picked, scratched or rubbed. This will fall off within the first week to reveal new, pink skin.  It is important that the treated area is kept clean, that you do not use any products not recommended by Dr Sister and that you stay out of the sun.

How long do results last for?

Results will last for as long as those achieved with conventional surgery.

What causes cellulite?

Most women dread the thought of stipping off to their bathers. Regardless of size, cellulite is the bane of most women’s lives, and can really affect self-confidence. It lurks mainly n the lower body, specifically the buttocks, back of legs and thighs and, occasionally, the abdomen. But what is it?

Fibres hold our skin to our muscle forming chambers with fat cells lying in between. As fat cells grow or accumulate, they push up against the skin, while the long, tough cords pull down creating an uneven surface or dimpling cellulite is also more common with ageing, when the skin loses elasticity.

A swim in the sea really gets the circulation going, and that’s something we can all do for free!

The are three types of cellulite, hard, soft and edematous, and it tends to run in families – so genetics might play the biggest role in whether you develop cellulite. An inactive lifestyle also can increase the chances of having cellulite, as can pregnancy.

The six main causes of Cellulite are:
1. Enlarged fat chambers just under the skin
2. Damaged collagen fibres (which exacerbate the next cause)
3. Loss of skin elasticity
4. Poor blood flow
5. Metabolic waste
6. Hormonal and genetic

If you would like to get rid of your cellulite, radio frequency is a very good way of tightening up the skin whilst bursting the fat cells beneath.

Even with medical intervention, cellulite will sadly, never fully disappear – but we can help ourselves:

• Body Brush and use ZO Cellulite Control Creme
• Drink lots of water to flush out toxins
• Take regular exercise to increase blood circulation and therefore oxygen and nutrients to tissues.
•  A swim in the sea really gets circulation going, and that’s something we can all do for free!
